OTC and SPI hold 1st river cleanup campaign
Ocean Tankers Corporation (OTC) and SEAOIL Philippines, Inc. (SPI). held its first Pasig River Cleanup Campaign in Barangay Barangka-Ilaya, Mandaluyong City last April 14, 2012.
In cooperation with the Department of Public Works and Highways and Philippine Coast Guard, the "Pasig Buhayin, Ilog Linisin" drive is part of the companies' effort to rehabilitate Pasig River and promote environmental consciousness among the residents of the community.
Aside from the actual cleanup, several activities were also held in relation to the drive such as a forum and launch of an interactive module covering solid waste management and a seminar on disaster risk preparedness and management.
The event was attended by OTC and SPI officers, including Mr. Stephen L. Yu, OTC President and SPI Chief Operations Officer, DPWH and LGU officials, private companies, and students and residents from Mandaluyong City. Representatives from the Miss Earth Philippines 2012 also came to the event to lend a helping hand in the program.
