SEAOIL President for Retail and CFO Mark L. Yu was named Outstanding Charterholder of the Year by the Chartered Financial Analyst Society of the Philippines, the local chapter of CFA Institute.  The award was given at the recently concluded Philippine Investment Conference 2018, a bi-annual event that looks at current trends in business and investment.

Yu accepted the award before a huge audience of business leaders. He recalled that becoming a certified CFA required a huge investment of his time and energy to complete all three levels of the program. Following the receipt of the CFA award, Yu said, “I am hoping that more of our employees will be inspired to take the program. This will deepen our management depth and strengthen our competitive advantage in the industry.”

Since taking over as CFO in 2002, Yu has led SEAOIL from insolvency to becoming the leading independent fuel player in the Philippines. Concurrently, he is the president of Novel Finance Company, Inc., a boutique investment and financing firm based in Asia. Yu is also a board adviser for CFA Philippines. He was previously the finance director for Asia Pacific of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a global organization of entrepreneurs with over US$160B in combined annual revenues. Prior to that, Yu was the organization’s director for Southeast Asia.

The CFA Institute is a worldwide association for investment management professionals. Aside from providing a space for investment professionals, the institute administers and awards the CFA certification among other programs. In 2017, the organization gained a total of 156,800 members.

SEAOIL is the leading independent fuel provider in the Philippines with over 400 retail stations in high growth regions and a network of depots strategically located across the country.
